Well, every year needs a really bad song, and this year it comes from Georgia. I don’t really know what has happened with that country – their first few Eurovision songs were great, but lately they have really been off their game. Other than last year’s Warrior, it seems as though Georgia has decided to specialize in silly songs, rather than sending something enjoyable or memorable.
And this year, “Midnight Gold” is probably the worst song of the show. The music is nothing short of cacophony (Thomas G:son again…getting fed up with him now), the “singing” is just rhythmic talking, and then we get to the extremely repetitive and nonsensical lyrics. The song is a disaster from the first beat, and the performers are as unlikable as it is possible to be in a three-minute song.
But, every semi final needs a couple songs that won’t qualify, and I hope and pray this is such a song! At least we have a bathroom break!
